Well,it’s Christmas Eve and Birdman is right where you expect him to be…in front of the microphone playing the final RAD of 2011.

In this edition of RAD,we take a few minutes to share some thank yous to the community for all the wonderful support of this past year during all the up’s and downs of Birdman’s life. We also share with you some of the weirdness that happened just before the show today and let me tell you…what has been seen cannot be seen! The game we decided to take a look at is the often forgotten Home Alone on the Sega Genesis! Why does no one talk about our blast processing powered port of Kevin’s adventures to the stop the Wet bandits?
We’re armed with BB guns,Pepper spray and snowballs and we will protect our neighborhood with whatever force we deem necessary!
Birdman will return with new RAD”s after MAGFest so he’s going to go to Skyrim,Arkham City and then finally visit Nathan Drake..it’ll be a good holiday!

RAD episode 230-Raam’s shadow

Grab your kit gears, we’re going back in against the grubs and we’re taking no prisoners!

In today’s installment of RAD, we welcome Blistered Thumbs own Micah onto the show to talk Gears of War 3:Raam’s shadow. Birdman and Micah break down the latest piece of single player DLC for the Epic Games’ shooter. This time we are set in a post Emergence day Sera but before the days of Delta Squad as we’re out to evacuated a Locust infested city before time runs out. This DLC also lets us take Locust General Raam for a test drive against some very unfortunate COG forces and what can we say,its fun to slaughter the Gears with a swarm of kyrll and a giant damned knife!
Is this DLC worth the 1200 microsoft points or it is better to wait for this single serving DLC?

There is so much to do in the land of Skyrim that is a game that could easily get away from you before you know it…a simple night time playthru has turned into an all nighter! Find out why Birdman fell in love with a game that he initially brushed off as “big deal” into one of his all time new favorite games!

Birdman returns with yet another video review and this time he turns his focus on a beloved franchise with a universally hated animated counterpart!
Street Fighter:The Animated series.

Birdman is a lover of almost all things animated and definitely has some opinions on it as well.We take a look at the SF animated series and see what things it did right and what things it did wrong but most importantly we tell you if it’s worth your time or not. It’s got something for everyone including a whacky outlandish Ken, a wise cracking Blanka and somehow a more over the top M.Bison and most of the cast of Beast Wars! What more could you want? Lazy animation, weird storylines and more!
Sit down and remember a time when Saturday mornings didn’t suck as we take a look at this video game themed cartoon!

Birdman suits up in his C.O.G armor one last time to finish off the Locust and their lambent infected brethren!

RAD takes a look at the finale story for Delta Squad as they prepare for what could be the end of humanity and even Sera itself. The Gears of War storyline has evolved over the last 3 games into something truly “epic” with a fantastic set of characters set against a desperate backdrop of war but how does the final game treat these as it ends?
Do we get the satisfaction of a hard fought victory or do we taste the bitter sting of what should have been?

It’s Monday so that means yet another RAD vlog, however this one holds a special place in Birdman’s Heart.

Birdman has decided to take on a monumental challenge and try to change some lives! Mike will be doing a 24 hour marathon for charity and playing some great video games and raising money for Toronto Sick Kids Hospital via Extra Life.Org . Charity work is something that Birdman believes in wholeheartedly and always tries to get involved when a particular cause ruffles his feathers. RAD X’11 Microsoft Media Preview

The summer is ending and that means we’re revving up the game machines for a slew of new releases!
Birdman and his able bodied young ward Scottydoo enter the Microsoft’s inner sanctum (which ironically was a fancy nightclub) and checked out what will be coming to the Xbox 360 and beyond!

Major 3rd party publishers, such as Bethesda and Sega, sent their PR representatives to the land of the ice and snow and show off some hot titles due to come out this holiday. Some of the goodies they got their hands on were among the highest profile games of the upcoming months such as, Mass Effect 3, Skyrim, Saints Row, and of course Halo.
So tune in to hear Birdman and Scotty give you the inside scoop on the games you are just itching to put into your consoles and see if they are worth your hard earned coin.

Birdman Speaks-Special announcement

Birdman returns from his sudden hiatus to let everyone know what happened during Resident Evil theme week and why there hasn’t been a new show since. Mike shares the details of what’s happened during all the time as Mike prides himself on sharing his life with you, the community.
A very serious series of events happened to Mike’s Dad and it got tremendously serious very quickly and Mike was at the hospital for the last 2 weeks.
As a result of an illness and ongoing complications with his father and family, RAD will be taking a hiatus til August at the earliest.
Mike is also getting married during July and will be taking time off for that as well. We do have some good news however….
Mike will be appearing with Spoony and Angry Joe, Keith Apicary and the first canadian appearance at Con Bravo in Burlington,Ontario,Canada on July 30-31

In today’s edition of Review a day,we fight for the Earth realm in this newest entry in the long running franchise with Mortal Kombat. We will be taking a look at the collectors content as well and let you know if it’s worth picking up the Kollectors edition or the tournament edition.
Birdman has been a long time kombatant going as far back as the original arcade cab and even wrote some MK fanfic…yes,he’s a kombat nerd….so how does this reboot hold up?
Raiden and the warriors from Earth realm have to stop Outworld Emperor Shao Kahn from destroying everything but can the help of one internet reviewer tip the tides of battle?
We enter the arena unafraid and ready with harpoon spears,teleports and other moves ready to tell you if this game is really a reboot worth mentioning or will it banished to the neatherealm?

Does this adventure game still have the power to keep players interested or does it simply fade out of existence?

Today on Review a Day, we take a break from the video games and put on something totally different… a hip hop album based on Final Fantasy 7 called “Black Materia”.

Birdman invites MegaRan onto the show to talk about the creation of Black Materia and its collaboration between its many artists such as The Ranger, Brentalfloss and many others.

It’s a review, it’s an interview and it’s a listening party all rolled into one!

In today’s edition of RAD we prepare to weather a storm of hot lead with EA’s Bulletstorm. We’ve landed a hostile world full of weird mutants, screwed up plant life and robot dinosaurs….and our only choice is shoot everything in sight and make sure it dies in a creative manner. Join space pirate Grayson Hunt on his quest for revenge with a pissed off cyborg and a hottie with a gun while they spew some of the most offensive dialogue in a big name release.

Bulletstorm should be every testosterone fueled fantasy come true in glorious HD but does it deliver on it’s promise of “Kill with skill”?

Birdman grits his teeth and prepares his skill shot of “Cut through the hype” and see if this title is worth picking up or weather it’s destined to be a weekend rental.

Today is for true believers and those on the fighter’s edge, it’s legacy, it’s legend and it’s the dawn of a new age. It’s Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds. But sometimes with a title so long awaited it’s not safe (or smart) to review alone. With Birdman comes Marc [the Engineer], a challenger to perspective.
On the docket is a quick look back on the Vs. series, where did they (and their experience) come from and where it’s going. Under a microscope will go the new control system, the sound, the look, the feel and the nuance. In the end how will the scales balance between the hardcore who wanted this game and the casual who have yet to find themselves real fans of this series?
And most importantly, after a decade’s long wait and the deafening roar of fan demand can this game live up to the hype and propagate the legacy or does the buck stop here?

Today is something special for our Mega-Week draws to a close as we get to tune into something very cool….a Megaman inspired Rock opera!

The Protomen are a group of musicians from the heart of Nashville,Tennessee and have performed across Canada and the USA at large and small venues.

Birdman first heard of them at PAX EAST 2010 and since then has listened to the CD”s hundreds of times and even rocked out to their performance at MAGFEST 9 a few weeks ago.

In this edition of Review a day, we will take a look 3 of the tracks from the groups discography to give you insight into the world they have created around Megaman canon…its a dark place with familiar faces and shares some very personal experiences.

We enter the House of Light with RAD and hope to emerge with the Will of One and avoid the Hounds….

GUEST BLOG-Laura Thomas-Making Friends with Sackboy

This past Monday Mike “The Fist of Justice” Laidman and I were invited to take part in the Toronto media launch event for Little Big Planet 2, which was released on the 18th. A group of website, television, and print journalists gathered for the event where we not only got to play the completed version of the game, but talk with developers and people from Media Molecule, as well as mingling with other gaming enthusiasts.
As a huge fan of the original game, I was excited to see what kinds of improvements, changes, and overall growth had been brought to the series. From television ads and the demo I knew there were going to be a lot of new things added to the series, including a lot of new tools to be used in levels. I’d seen the grabber and the grappling gun, but there were a few others that I didn’t know about, including the cake gun. Yes, cake gun. My biggest concern with all these new toys and trinkets would be an over complication in the gameplay. One of the best things about Little Big Planet was it’s simplicity, throwing in new tricks might bog that down. I quickly realized how easy all the tools were to use and how perfectly suited to their environments and levels they were. Press R1 and you’re in business!
Mike and I gamed pretty hard for a while during the event, and we made it pretty far in the game. We got to see a few different segments and planets while we played and the world map is much easier to use than the first one. Navigating was never hard in LBP1, but sometimes it would get a little tricky trying to use the left stick to get to the level you wanted. This time around things are smoothed out and easy to use. Not only that, but in certain levels you can actually jump into the next level without even exiting and going back to the pod screen.

LBP2 also brings in a range of new friends including those you can interact with more than just people who show up with messages for you. You meet the adorable Sackbots who need a little help from time to time, as well as some animal friends who show up to give Sackboy a hand too!
The game play for the game is perfect for a sequel. It’s like a bigger and better Little Big Planet, which is exactly what one hopes for from a sequel. I took a look at the trophy list and it was quite extensive, including a bunch of hidden story line trophies. Getting that platinum wont be easy in this one folks.
As for the media event we attended, it was a lot of fun! We showed up right when the doors opened and got to sit down at a large TV and game to our heart’s content. There were enough games set up that everyone had a chance to play for as long as they wanted. We were also treated to Sackboy cookies, which were delicious and looked great. The room was decorated really well for the event, and the banners showed some costumes that you can unlock in the game. There is definitely something for every taste in the costume selection .On our way out we were given our choice of Sackboy plush, which was an unexpected surprise for me. I got a Sackgirl (cliched choice, I’m aware) and Mike picked up Marvin, a ‘fro sporting disco stud. It was definitely a great day and Sony and team definitely did a good job making us gaming fans feel not only welcomed, but appreciated as well.

Will this trip back in time be enough to redeem a franchise plagued by the evil that is LJN or will it be doomed to a future ruled by more games?

In today’s edition of RAD we check out, a tie in game for one of the season’s most anticipated movies…Tron:Legacy!

Birdman joins Tron and Anon in a quest to free grid from a virus corrupting it in Tron:Evolution for the Xbox 360.

The computerized layout of the city of Grid is in need of a hero and we’ve answered the call but we have we gotten ourselves into?

Lightdiscs and lightcycles and an odd young Jeff Bridges all come out to play in this movie based game but…is it all nerd nostalgia this title has to offer?

Will the flashy graphics and wall running be enough to make this game a winner or should simply hit delete and play Angry birds instead?

RAD ep135-Donkey Kong Country Returns

Its on like Donkey Kong! (Trademark pending-Thanks Nintendo!)

Nintendo has certainly had a great time revisiting some of it’s older franchises and its time to bring back the king of Kong and see how he’s fared in this update with…Donkey Kong Country Returns!

Birdman travels to the mysterious island where Kong resides and sees what the big deal is this time around that has the monkey fuming mad!

Once again some evil bastards have decided to take Kong’s bananas….and oh yeah enslaved the island via hypnosis thing too.

Is this returning to the bountiful land of Donkey Kong worth a visit or was Cranky Kong right when he said video games were good in his day?

The Dragonballs have seen better days in the last few games but will this new sequel in the Raging Blast series be the one that brings back the Legendary super sayians to glory?

Birdman taps into his inner nerdocity and unleashes his hidden power and readies to fire his own version of the Kaioken 20X Kamehameha against mediocre anime games!

Will this be game be the one that turns into a Super Sayian level 4 or will this anime inspired fighter sit out another round and stay on the store shelf?

Ready to face the darkness of the night armed with your faith and weapons? To celebrate Halloween on this cold October night, its time to turn off the lights and play Castlevania: Lords of Shadow for the Xbox 360 and PS3!  It’s a new Belmont and a new evil that comes over the land and this knight of the brotherhood of light stands at the ready with his cross weaponry which is like a Swiss army knife of undead killing! Birdman sides up along the Belmont to fight the Lords of Shadows  and takes on the old gods and all sorts of things that hunger for the death of man! Is this game a worthy successor to the Castlevania name or a mere pretender to the throne?
*Editors note* I try REALLY hard to avoid spoilers in this review, the story is what made this game particularly bad ass

Birdman has returned from his sickness and its for him to join up with the UNSC Spartans to help defend the Planet Reach. Birdman’s return to RAD means that we are kicking off HALO week early so that we can prepare for the Covenant invasion and be ready to fight the alien bastards. This is the story of how the war with the Covenant took a dramatic step before the Master Chief came in with HALO:Combat evolved and we discover some new secrets,some surprise cameos and meet the final Spartans who gave everything they had to protect a doomed world…

Is this latest HALO game a dramatic send off that fans have been waiting for it or could we compared it another prequel that stared a certain Gungan?

I’ve been hearing lots of buzz lately about screen shots from the latest Gears of War 3 trailers and decided I definitely needed to take a look. Not so much for the game play, but the characters. Turns out one of the characters duking it out on the front lines is none other than communications officer Anya Stroud. This has caused a lot of buzz around the game, and not many of the reactions I agree with. It seems a lot of people don’t like the idea, not because gamers are thinking things like ‘girls are lame’ or ‘girls are weak’, but non-gamers are saying it will be detrimental in the fight against violence against women.
              I’ve played Gears of War. It’s one of the few shooters I’ve truly enjoyed. I haven’t had the chance to play GoW2, but like I said, I did enjoy the first one. It’s violent. I mean, the gun has a chainsaw on it. And you know what, as a woman I think, “That is awesome.” The big concern here is the violence and how that might affect the female characters. How showing violence against women in the video game will make those playing the game think that violence against women is ok in the real world. I wholly disagree with that assumption. We haven’t even played the game yet, and people assume they know what will happen. They assume Anya and any other women will get brutally killed. And if that happens? Well, you’ve seen many other male characters get the same treatment, why should the women be any different?
              That is to say, if they die like the men do. Going out like a champ and taking down as many Locusts in a blaze of glory. Or, you know, something as equally cool. Now, I could see a problem if the game pulls a cut scene with some ‘women in refrigerators’ tactic with Anya. With her romantic connections to Marcus, I can sadly see this happening. “What is ‘women in refrigerators?’” you may ask. It’s a plot moving tactic that women have frowned upon for a long time that’s pretty popular in comics. It comes from an issue of Green Lantern where Kyle Rayner’s girlfriend was killed and stuffed in a refrigerator by villain Major Force. This served no purpose but to move the plot along. The same happened in Alan Moore’s classic Batman issue The Killing Joke, where Barbara Gordon was shot, paralyzing her from the waist down. She’s been in a wheelchair ever since. If this is the type of thing that happens to Anya in GoW3, I will be upset. She’s a strong woman and should fight with the men as an equal, not used as a plot device.
              Another aspect of this that critics aren’t mentioning but gamers are is that women gamers like playing women characters. It’s not a deal breaker, but if I have the chance of playing a female character I’m all for it. I’ll pick her over the male character any day. Why? Because a female character is more relatable for me; it helps with the fantasy. Having that option means I’m more likely to check out the game, which for the people putting out those games, it means more revenue. Game companies are realizing that women like gaming too, and if they don’t appeal to that market, it’s a large demographic they’re missing out on.
              So yes, is there a chance that GoW3 is going to show completely senseless violence towards a female character? Possibly. Do I think that’s going to be the case? Probably not. The violence will hopefully be on par with what the men face because it’s fair. The game’s writer has told the media a few times now that he sees men and women as equals and thinks women should be treated as such. That means that yes; some female characters are going to get hit with a chainsaw gun. It’s better than showing them as weaklings.

The Beatles. They’re one of the only bands that truly deserve their own sentence and now they’re one of the only bands that deserve their own game. Beatles Rock Band was released this year in September and has had quite the impact on the world of gaming and pop culture in general. The kind of impact only The Beatles can have. Everyone has a different opinion on The Beatles and anything as culturally significant is going to have people that love it and people that hate it, but the fact remains that if something is this important it has to have a lot of people that love it and the dominant sales of The Beatles Rock Band have proved this theory. It’s been almost 50 years since The Beatles as we know them started back in 1962 and even now they have proven their significance and domination of the global market, but now in a new sector of the entertainment industry, the video game sector, and why not? Only the boys from Liverpool can take something like video games, an industry that no one had even dreamed of during the 1960’s, and make it their very own. 
One of the things that makes The Beatles Rock Band such an interesting game is that it’s an almost educational experience. You’ll play through the Beatles entire career from their humble roots in a Liverpool club to the infamous rooftop concert. You’ll learn when certain songs were recorded, who sings which song and even how challenging their respective instrumentation might have been. You’ll discover first-hand just how much more talented Paul was compared to Ringo and through various unlockable photos and video clips you’ll learn more about the Beatles than you ever knew before. 
There’s something quite surreal about being able to play as such living legends too. It’s different from the regular version of Rock Band where you can have a large, African American man in a gas mask singing a No Doubt song, here everything is about Authenticity. You play as The Beatles themselves in custom animated “dreamscapes” and re-created concert experiences. You even get to experience the band’s changing style as the game progresses. You’ll remember how stupid Paul looked with a full beard and how at one point every member had a moustache for some reason and so on. Nothing compares to being able to sit down, grab a guitar and pretend that you’re George Harrison or John Lennon in front of a crowd of adoring teenagers. It’s something everyone’s imagined at least once and now you get as close as ever to achieving your dreams thanks to modern-day video game innovations. Even the dreamscapes are shockingly similar to what was probably going through the Beatles minds when they were writing and recording these songs while consuming certain mind-altering substances. In fact, my only major complaint with this game is it didn’t come with nearly enough songs, considering the Beatles gigantic catalogue of classics. I could name a dozen chart-topping Beatles tunes that don’t feature on the game and that’s unfortunate, but luckily there is a solution. 
That solution is the advent of something fairly new to the world of video gaming, downloadable content. Console gaming and internet use are now almost synonymous and downloadable content or DLC for short is invading the world of gaming by introducing download exclusive songs, levels, characters, weapons and so on to the video games that we all know and love. Thanks to this solution, whole Beatles albums are now being released to be played on your console. Let’s face it; if you own Beatles Rock Band, you have no excuse to not be picking up this content, especially when you can play Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band in its entirety from start to finish. C’mon people! It’s freakin’ Sgt. Pepper! Rolling Stone Magazine named it the greatest album of all time and for good reason. Right now, Sgt. Pepper, Abby Road and Rubber Soul are all available for download to add to this already stunning game. The amazing thing about the various DLC songs is how much they integrate into the game, the studio banter that play before the song starts is still there, it still tells you when it was recorded and each song comes with either a new dreamscape or is integrated into a concert setting if it was, in fact, played at said concert. It feels like the new material could have come with the game. It works wonderfully and if you consider yourself a hardcore gamer and a hardcore Beatles fan, you can’t miss this experience that takes a game that was already great and makes it even greater. My only complaint is that once again, it would be nice to get more, and I can only hope for more in the future. The Beatles have so many amazing albums, it would be wonderful to see Please Please Me or Revolver or (my personal favourite) The White Album released as downloadable content, not to mention all the songs that were only ever released as singles such as Love Me Do or Hey Jude. I’d love to see more individual non-album tracks thrown into the DLC mix for fun. 
I can’t really complain though, I mean playing through the over-15-minute-long medley at the end of Abbey Road as one long, uninterrupted song (and yes, it even includes Her Majesty) is an experience like no other and as I was saying earlier, it’s an almost educational experience. There were times that I thought that John or Paul were singing something when Beatles Rock Band showed me that it was really George or Ringo, etc. You gain an appreciation for this music when you’re really playing through it rather than just listening to it. The only other way to gain this kind of appreciation is to go out, buy a guitar and learn the songs in real life, but for everyone else there’s Beatles Rock Band, from Harmonix, EA, MTV Games and Apple Corp. Thanks guys for making something that takes a wonderful band and makes them even more wonderful. I can only hope for more DLC support in the future, but until then I’ll follow the sun. TWIG – Geek Gamers – Borderlands, Dragon Age: Origins, Nostalgia

Normally we’re known here at TWIG for doing reviews in an audio format, but for today I’ve decided to do something a little out of the ordinary by doing a written review or three of the more recent games we’ve received here at the TWIG Headquarters. Why you might ask? because I can! Anywho, on to the reviews!
Dragon Age: Origins
First up is Dragon Age: Origins for the PC. Set in your typical medieval world, Dragon Age: Origins sets you on an epic quest to save the world and discover who you are, but along the way you’ll make choices and encouter situations that do not, the purest soul make. You’ll begin the game by creating a character from the gorund up by choosing Either Human, Elf or Dwarf races, and then either Warrior, Rogue or Mage classes which then determine one of two possible origin story to start your journey on. There are six possible origins to choose from, but your choice of race and class will reduce it down to only 2, or sometimes even only 1.
The game itself plays a lot like most MMO’s today, what with the HUD displaying your health and mana and a quickbar for your items and abilities. The HUD will also display the health and mana of your other party members so you can keep tabs on them. As you roam around, you only control one party member at a time while the rest will follow you anywhere you go, but during battle they will fight on their own and act on their own, but if you wish to take control of someone you can simply click on them or their HUD icon and presto, instant control over that person. During battle you can also pause the fight in order to issues commands for each party member, that will be executed once you unpause the fight, but sadly, you can only issue one command at a time, so in order to get someone to keep casting a spell or using a certain skill, you either need to take control of them or keep pausing the fight every so often to re-issue the command to them.
Anyone who plays Dungeons & Dragons will very quickly see how much the game is influenced by it with references to it via the in-game terminolgy such as Damage checks and the like as you go about choosing stats, skills, and gear for a character. As for the plot, it’s progress is influenced by quests completed, the game of course has the usual main quests and side-quests to complete for additional fun, but as you go about the game, many choices you make will influence how the plot progresses in a certain direction and why, even if the influence of a choice you make isn’t apparent immediately, it could have still have some interesting or even severe consequences much later on in the game.
Overall, this is a very fun game, and if you’re a fan of Dungeons & Dragons or a fan of epic RPG games, do not let yourself pass this one up, it’s worth every penny.
Borderlands
Up next is Borderlands for the PC, the first thing you’ll notice is the presentation of the game, which is a mix of hand-drawn and computer generated graphics, which makes for a fairly unique visual aesthetic to the game. You begin the game travelling on a bus heading to the Borderlands of a planet known as Pandora ins earch of a legendary vault which is said to contain riches beyond anyone’s wildest dreams. While on the bus, you get to pick one of 4 classes, the Soldier, Siren, Hunter, or Berserker.
Regardless of which class you pick, the game will remain the same in terms of plot and quests to be completed, but as you level up you’ll be able to equip better guns and also earn skill points that will allow you to tune your characters skills into one of 3 sub-types, for example, the Soldier can become a combat medic, where he can simply shoot a partner to heal them while any enemy that gets in the way will still take damage, and the Berserker can have skill points added into a particulr skill so that while in his berserk state any critical hits he lands on an enemy earn him money.
Now the game is best played with up to 4 players, but is still quite enjoyable when playing solo, but sometimes a situation might call for a team mate, especially with some tricky bosses, but a bit of level grinding can help with that if you’re so inclined to do so.
As you progress throughout the world of Pandora, you’ll come across many weapons, each with some very unique attributes, for instance, some weapons cause elemental damage such as fire or electricity upon scoring a critical hit on an enemy, while others wil have a faster reload rate then a similar gun of the same type. Apart from that, you also have your own weapon proficiency levels for every type of gun in the game, and as you kill more enemies with a certain type, you’re proficiency level will rise allow you better reload times and other perk while using those weapons which are separate bonuses from the guns themselves.
Overall Borderlands is well worth the price tag if you decide to get it, especially if you and a few friends all play together.
Nostalgia
Last up is Nostalgia for the Nintendo DS. Nostalgia takes place in an alternate time line of the 1900′s where airships rule the skies and being an adventurer is considered by many to be the greatest profession one can have. You play as a young Eddie Brown who sets out in search of his father Gilbert Brown, known as the world greatest adventurer, after he goes missing.
Soon after your journey begins though, you and your fellow companions who you meet along the way get caught up in an evil organizations bid to take over the world, with you being one of the only few who can stop them.
Does the above paragraph sound familiar to you? well, you’re right, Nostalgia, as the games very name suggests, is filled with references to the old RPG games of the SNES era of gaming, but with a few modern twists thrown into the mix. At times, these nods to the past are fun and exciting to see implemented the way they are, at others it’s can make things see overly cliché or cheesy, but the game never truly goes too far south in how well it’s presented.
Just like any RPG game, there are of course, random battles, during the battles, you and the enemies are displayed on the top screen with your party’s information and turn order displayed on the bottom screen. The biggest asset you have is the turn order list. Take advantage of it, and you can really lay the hurt down on your opponents before hey get a chance to take their turn. How you might ask? well, before you make choices on wether to attack, cast a spell, or simply defend, it shows how choosing that action will affect the turn order by moving the characters icon up or down the turn order lis tto show whent hey will next be able to attack. So taking advantage of this, could allow you to get a character to attack twice before one particular enemy, or een allow you and your party embers to kill a specific foe before it even has a chance to attack. Now at the end of a battle, you’re given a Rank of Either S, A, B, C, and depending n what rank you receive, you can earn bonus experience points and gold, or SP.
SP allows you to customize your party members various abilities by leveling them up, whcih makes the particular ability cause more damage, use less MP to cast or decrease the wait time so they can act again sooner in battle. Every character learns their various abilities as they level up, but the abilities themselves won’t level up unless you spend your SP in them, so if you like using one particular spell or ability, consider throwing more SP into it then another less used skill.
Overall, I would say this game is more suited for someone who is a Fan of old-school RPG’s from the past, but even someone who hasn’t played many RPGs can enjoy it, but they might find things a little dull compared to other of today’s more recent RPG games. All in all, still a decent title if you pick it up, but I would recommend you look into the game before buying it if you’re unsure.
