And before I get any filibustering from you guys, I just want to point out that you praised the 80-minute animated movie and were astonished that a movie double its length couldn’t tell the same level of story. I’ve got the answer. Less is more. Better movies were made when directors were forced to keep the length in check. Sometimes you get a good epic-lenth movie (Spider-Man), but most of the time, you get filler.

Additionally, although I haven’t seen Green Lantern yet, from what I’ve heard, it appears to suffer from origin-story-itis. The problem isn’t so much that it wants to tell it. It’s that it wants to dedicate nearly the entire movie to the hero’s origin. I am so sick of these movies. Get the origin out of the way and get to the meat of the story. Time and time again, these movies have shown us that the origin story is really not as interesting as Hollywood would like us to believe.

You know what my favorite controllers are? SNES, Genesis, Saturn, and the Dualshock. And my favorite peripherals are the ASCII Grip and the Gamecube Digital Controller. See any pattern? That’s right. I like it simple.

Oh, and by the way… Taking away the Gamecube functionality? That sucks, because now all of those third-party adapters for older control pads aren’t going to work anymore.

Another thing is that new consoles just aren’t as exciting now that we’re in the high-def age. Everything has near-realistic graphics, and so you don’t have this immediate confirmation that you’re playing a whole new console generation anymore. The next generation of consoles are going to look just as good as the last.

The last time I remember being excited for a new console generation was the Gamecube/PS2 era, because that’s the last time I can recall graphics taking a major leap forward.

The games shown on the Wii U at E3 were not actually running on the Wii U. It remains to be seen what the Cry Engine looks like on the system.

Arkham Asylum never came out on the Wii. I assume that is why you changed it to War for Cybertron, but that analogy also does not work as the War for Cybertron on Wii A) Was not called War for Cybertron and B) Was not the same game as released on PC, 360, and PS3.

Next note – Nintendo needs to master online play quickly, as the Wii U will not support the usual everyone playing on the couch at the same time we’ve grown used to. The controller limits the offline multiplayer experience.

The Vita is DOA. The announcement of AT&T as the service provider was met with Boos for the rest of Sony’s presentation. Neither it, nor the 3DS are going to do much to cut into the DS and Iphone handheld gaming dominance – until Nintendo drops the price heavily and stops all support for the DS.

It’s great that they want to change directions and try to steal some Hardccore gamers from Sony and Microsoft, but lets face it that’ll never happen.

For example how many people that bought Transformers War For Cyberron bought it for the Wii I bet it’s not as many as PS3 or XBox.

PS: the battle between PSVita and 3DS will be epic this holliday. Some competiton will be good for all us gamers

Let me start at the beginning: What is the difference between a lightsaber and a sword? A sword’s blade, although sharp, can still brush against you with no harm… the side or the back of the blade is just a piece of metal. You can you your other hand to brace the blade to deflect or parry. A lightsaber cannot do this. Now, what is the best combat style for wielding a blade that is weightless and cuts through about anything with a touch?

A quick striking style, preferably fencing of some sort. In a fencing pose, how easy is it to defend or deflect something coming towards you? A flick of the wrist.

Very good. Now What is your maximum range? Reaching out with your arm straight forward. That is your maximum range. Now let’s observe the double bladed piece of shit.

What is your maximum range? It’s half, because you have to angle your body at whatever you want to stab AND keep your body clear of the blade coming out of the back end. Can you defend and deflect as easily? No. What was as easy as a flick of the wrist is now pivoting your balance, your hips, shoulders, elbows, and wrists to defend the same area. Your overall area of quick defense is reduced to 1/3 of what it could be.

So in the end, you have a weapon that:

A) Halves your range.
B) Creates blindspots(most notably straight ahead of you and to the sides)
C) Will maim you if the second blade touches you.

So yeah, it is the stupidest weapon ever. You are more likely to hurt yourself than your opponent.

But yes, one day, we will get to talk Transformers, and I’ll get to hold your feet to the fire, Mike. Bwahahahaha!!!

All I’m going to say about Tiny Toons is that, even if we were to agree that the show is actually good (lies!), it’s still very technically inferior. Warner was in the process of building a new system for their cartoons. There are a lot of bad animation moments in Tiny Toons that were ironed out by the time the later shows came along, like Animaniacs, Freakazoid, and Tazmania, where they had clearly hit their stride.

I think you may have a misunderstanding of my point about Headmasters versus “The Rebirth.” I’m not saying that anyone actually needs to watch Headmasters. Goodness knows, that series derails from everything we love about G1, that the only reason to ever watch it is to switch to the Malaysian dub and laugh at how astonishingly awful it is. I fully concede that having no proper dub of the series (and more importantly, not having the original actors) is a barrier, and Blanchard is justified in not wanting to watch it for that reason.

HOWEVER, I do believe that Headmasters dealt with the Headmaster concept more competently. Instead of trying to invent a reason to have heads pop off of the robots, the explained it from the opposite perspective, which is that five smaller Autobots made full-sized robot bodies for themselves. It’s much less complicated than what “The Rebirth” tried to do. I think “The Rebirth” is a disaster of storytelling, regardless if you tell it in three episodes or five.

I’m merely using the Japanese version as a means to critique the US version of the continuity. I’m not endorsing The Headmasters.

By the way, I’m so happy that the US cartoon ended before they got to Pretenders. Good god, I don’t think I would have been able to stomach their rationalization of giant robots disguised as giant humans. I think they were really stretching the concept of Robots in disguise.

It was a very poorly executed episode.

Besides which, you’re talking about the Constructicons, whose histories are contradictory in all three seasons. The Constructicons, who where created Megatron, who turned them evil and then later created them on Earth.

Oh, but the greatest plan of all goes to Vector Sigma, who put into motion a plot to put the Earth, Cybertron, and the Sun at great risk just so the Autobots could recharge a battery that makes Cybertron glow again. And no matter how ridiculously dangerous it appears to be, nobody should destroy the key.

Wonderful plan.

Worst. Episode. Ever.

Well, except for “Carnage In C-Minor,” “The Girl Who Loved Powerglide,” “Auto-Bop,” “The Secret Of Omega Supreme,” “Day Of The Machines,” and “Five Faces Of Darkness.” Those are all really bad, too, ut I digress.

They only had 2 car choices from Animated for dragstrip Blurr or Arcee… Blurr was repaint as Animated Transtech Cheetor… So Arcee mold was only thing they could use. Glad you liked the ep. THE REBIRTH RULES!!!!!!

By the way, Jack Angel was the voice of Ultra Magnus in G1 seasons 3 and 4. He was also Smokescreen in season 2.

I’m rather amused that they picked the Arcee mode for Dragstrip. I think they did that intentionally.

And finally, I thought Springer was an awesome character. That’s another reason “The Rebirth” wasn’t any good. Springer wasn’t in it.
