[...] Double D’s Daily Dose: A Lame Acrostic Poem for Mother’s Day Well, it’s mother’s day, a time to remind the one who pushed us out into this world that we love her. By the way, I love you Mom! Thanks for giving birth to me and then raising me. I know it wasn’t easy. Anyways, to celebrate the love of Mom’s everywhere, I wrote this lame acrostic poem. Enjoy!
[...] Double D’s Daily Dose: Updates First off, here’s an update on my life and my upcoming mission trip. Yeah, I know you probably don’t care and no one likes to hear about someone else’s pet cause, but I don’t care. This is my blog, so it’s also my soap-box. If you don’t like it, well that’s mildly upsetting. Anyway, first off, there’s a slight change in plans, due to a lack of interest in the original program. I’ll still be doing the same thing, but the dates have changed. I’ll no longer be going from June 17 to July 14. I’ll now be going from July 18 to August 19 as long as nothing comes up.
[...] Double D’s Daily Dose: Movie Top 25 Alright, let’s talk about Die Hard! Yes! I love this movie! Seriously, Die Hard is too cool to not talk about. Where do I even start? How about we start with Mr. John McClane? He is the ultimate down-to-Earth nine-to-five hero. He’s the everyman and maybe that’s why people like him so much. It’s hard to relate to James Bond, it’s easy to relate to John McClane, a man with no shoes on, totally out of his element and feeling like a loser as he desperately tries to win his wife back. He’s the kind of hero that really isn’t a hero. He’s just a guy trying to do what’s right, because no one else will and ultimately he’s the wrong guy in the wrong place at the wrong time. Welcome to Radvice! This is going to be my advice column. I’ll try and answer as un-ironically as possible. Try. I’ve toyed with the idea of making this an actual podcast with a co-host (preferably female) at some point, but let’s see how it fares as a blog first. [...]

[...] Blog Y: Movie Top 25: #25 – The Sandlot It’s time for another recycled oldie from the ghost of blog past. I started my top 25 about 18 months ago on my 22nd Birthday as part of my old blog, Double D Does the Movies, but never completed it all the way up to #1. However, now that I’m being forced to write a blog every day by the troll who lives under my bed, I thought now would be the perfect time to resurrect this dead feature. So, on and off for the next little while I’ll be throwing up my old blogs until I reach the point where I stopped, so that all my reader(s) can catch up. Without further adieu, here’s #25: The Sandlot. [...]

[...] Double D’s Daily Dose Blog T: Memories Level 1: Sonic Spinball Hey guys, I’ve decided to revive a blog I had on the RAD site for a while called Memories. It was a chance for me to take a comedic look back on video game past. I only got three blogs in the bag before I discontinued the series though, due to time constraints. Well, now that I’m doing a daily blog, I reckoned it was as good a time as any to resurrect the series. In order to do that though, I’m going to re-post the first three blogs for your reading pleasure over the next three days. Well, it gives me a break anyways. So, for our first exploration, let’s talk about Sonic Spinball for the Sega Genesis. [...]

[...] Blog M: Wizard World Toronto Comic Con 2012 Comic book conventions; they’re a staple of geek life. Personally, I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with cons. On the one hand, I love seeing famous people I know and love wandering around or hanging out at their booths and talking to new people and entering random contests can always be fun, but on the other hand, I hate large crowds. They make me uncomfortable. But, a couple times a year I suck it up and head on up to one of these events for fun. A few days ago, I attended Wizard World Toronto Comic Con 2012. Here’s a rough break-down of what happened to me. [...]

[...] Double D’s Daily Dose Blog D: The Junior Jays Club Well, today was the season opener for the Toronto Blue Jays, my favourite baseball team. I’ve always liked Baseball. It’s the only sport I really got into as a kid. I think I liked the strategy of it, compared to other, faster, dumber sports. Also, playing t-ball and softball as a kid helped. Unfortunately, I don’t get Sportsnet, so I wasn’t able to watch the opener, or any other Jays game this season, which is really a shame since I made it a point to watch their games this year. Looks like that’s not happening. For some reason we get the sports channel that airs everything from Los Angeles, but not local stuff from Toronto. No wonder Canadians lack national pride. Hopefully I can catch a game or two this summer, but that’s about it. [...]

[...] Double D’s Daily Dose Blog G: Being a Christian It’s not exactly something I chose, more like it chose me. Sometimes I think if I wasn’t in it, attached to it, devoted to it, what would I do, but those are just fantasies. For me, there is no way out, nor does there need to be. Christianity, in a sense, is the solution to all my problems. The cause is my inability to practice it in its truest form, all the time. You see, Christianity, in its truest form, is about love. It’s about dying to yourself and replacing self with God. It’s not easy at all and I usually mess it up. It’s been a process for me. [...]

[...] TWIG – Nerd News Network – Episode 100: The Grand Finale Of The NNN For the last two years Birdman, Snowball, The Skunk, Double D, TFG1, and so many more have brought you their opinions on the news. We have had tons of fun with Spada, Ryan, TV’s Mr. Neil, Dustimus Prime, and more! From all the memes, jokes, insults, shock and awe from deaths in hollywood we have had a lot of fun. However all good things must come to an end, in the final days of nerd news it wasn’t feeling very rewarding or fun. So to inject more fun we are stepping away from the news desk. Join us in nerd News 100 as we reminisce on everything in the last two years. We also make the announcements of what will take Nerd News’s place! [...]

[...] RAD episode 215-Gears of War 3 Birdman suits up in his C.O.G armor one last time to finish off the Locust and their lambent infected brethren! RAD takes a look at the finale story for Delta Squad as they prepare for what could be the end of humanity and even Sera itself. The Gears of War storyline has evolved over the last 3 games into something truly “epic” with a fantastic set of characters set against a desperate backdrop of war but how does the final game treat these as it ends? Do we get the satisfaction of a hard fought victory or do we taste the bitter sting of what should have been? Listen Now. [...]

[...] TWIG – Jump The Shark Returns Episode 27: Week Of Feb 13th-16th 2012 JTS Returns is back, and yes slightly late this week. However tune in to hear talk on Alcatraz, Last Man Standing, and so much more. Steve, Mike, and Kevin give their thoughts on those shows, and the Mike takes over with the shows he has been watching. Ringer was essentially a fourth sequel to Wild Things this week, and White Collar was missing, also SVU was very lackluster! So sit back, relax, grab some snacks, and tune in as we tell you the TV shows you should be watching. [...]

[...] Two Minute Stories – Snowball’s back! Wow, it has been a long time huh? Well Geeks, Geekettes and Cousin Its, I’m happy to say that yes Snowball is indeed back on This Week in Geek as a regular Host and it feels good to be back. I’ve missed you guys! It was a tough decision to go on hiatus and then try to come back on Nerd News and then have to come back again. But hey sometimes life gets in the way when you are having fun. Not to say I wasn’t having fun, working in radio is fantastic. But I felt I was a bit rusty in my geekdom and I needed my fix badly.
[...] Double D’s Daily Dose Blog A: Introduction This is an introduction, by the way. I figured my first blog should set up the pins before I knock them over. So let’s talk a little about Double D’s Daily Dose and what I plan to do with it. First off, it has the word “daily” in there for a reason. I plan on updating this blog every day, except for days when I’m away. When that happens I’ll attempt to let my loyal reader(s) know in advance, so he/she/they won’t be upset. However, don’t expect me to ALWAYS let you know. Sometimes things come up unexpectedly and cut into my plans. I apologize in advance. Otherwise, I’ll be updating this thing every day.
Oh, I didn't quite get a chance to point out my two pet peeves when it comes to movies.

1. The epic-length movie.
2. The "Begins" movie.

And before I get any filibustering from you guys, I just want to point out that you praised the 80-minute animated movie and were astonished that a movie double its length couldn't tell the same level of story. I've got the answer. Less is more. Better movies were made when directors were forced to keep the length in check. Sometimes you get a good epic-lenth movie (Spider-Man), but most of the time, you get filler.

Additionally, although I haven't seen Green Lantern yet, from what I've heard, it appears to suffer from origin-story-itis. The problem isn't so much that it wants to tell it. It's that it wants to dedicate nearly the entire movie to the hero's origin. I am so sick of these movies. Get the origin out of the way and get to the meat of the story. Time and time again, these movies have shown us that the origin story is really not as interesting as Hollywood would like us to believe.

You know, with this week's show being all-American, we should have opened with Hulk Hogan's old Real American theme song.

I'm so with ya Neil. I loved the NES, SNES, and DualShock... that's why I'll only ever own a Sony product now. The controllers are things I can actually use.

I was really disappointed with E3 this year. Everything feels like a tech demo for the latest control interface now. I'm sick and tired of that. I don't want to have the controller re-invented every six years. I just want a simple controller that I put in my hand when I sit down on the couch.

You know what my favorite controllers are? SNES, Genesis, Saturn, and the Dualshock. And my favorite peripherals are the ASCII Grip and the Gamecube Digital Controller. See any pattern? That's right. I like it simple.

Oh, and by the way... Taking away the Gamecube functionality? That sucks, because now all of those third-party adapters for older control pads aren't going to work anymore.

Another thing is that new consoles just aren't as exciting now that we're in the high-def age. Everything has near-realistic graphics, and so you don't have this immediate confirmation that you're playing a whole new console generation anymore. The next generation of consoles are going to look just as good as the last.

The last time I remember being excited for a new console generation was the Gamecube/PS2 era, because that's the last time I can recall graphics taking a major leap forward.

Regardless if the TF Wii game was different my point is still valid if people want games like FPS, action, adventure, horror, sci fi, and all that M Rated stuff THEY DON'T look to nintendo. They looks to PS3 XBox etc.

Some corrections:

The games shown on the Wii U at E3 were not actually running on the Wii U. It remains to be seen what the Cry Engine looks like on the system.

Arkham Asylum never came out on the Wii. I assume that is why you changed it to War for Cybertron, but that analogy also does not work as the War for Cybertron on Wii A) Was not called War for Cybertron and B) Was not the same game as released on PC, 360, and PS3.

Next note - Nintendo needs to master online play quickly, as the Wii U will not support the usual everyone playing on the couch at the same time we've grown used to. The controller limits the offline multiplayer experience.

The Vita is DOA. The announcement of AT&T as the service provider was met with Boos for the rest of Sony's presentation. Neither it, nor the 3DS are going to do much to cut into the DS and Iphone handheld gaming dominance - until Nintendo drops the price heavily and stops all support for the DS.
