#19 – Jaws

Yeah, that’s right. I’ve never seen Jaws, until now. I thought it was great. It’s a simple story, with no moral and barely even any character development, but the way its depicted is so effective that you get drawn right in and want to kill that stupid shark just as much as anyone else does. I like some of Spielberg’s other work more than I like this one, but it was a great breakthrough for the time. No one had experienced a movie as effective in its approach or its box-office sales as Jaws, even earning the film a Best Picture Nomination. So, now I’ve seen Jaws. My life is complete.
